BRIDGING CULTURES

Boon Boona, a Seattle-based coffee roaster, is committed to bringing the unique coffee and traditions of East Africa to Seattle. Partnering exclusively with African producers and exporters, they're committed to highlighting and supporting oftentimes overlooked markets. Their cafes in seattle are intentionally designed to be inclusive, serving as gathering places and welcoming venues for artists, non-profits, and local, loved small business.

Their owner, Efrem Fesaha, initially approached us to help them fix their Shopify templates which were adding friction to online purchasing and didn't match the rest of their site. During exploration, our team identified the need and opportunity to tell Boon Boona's story more effectively through new home, about and product pages. This resulted in a fresh new voice and extended look for the company.

TRADITIONAL INSPIRATION

Boon Boona is inspired by the founder’s travels and family ties in Eritrea where pouring a daily cup meant sitting down and taking time to connect.

Specifically drawing inspiration from the vibrant culture of Asmara, the capital city of Eritrea, we developed a vision for how we could leverage and integrate some of this vibrancy into the brand and website.

FRESH VISUAL SYSTEM

We crafted a revitalized aesthetic for the website including a unified color palette, art-deco inspired set of fonts, bespoke textures and illustrations rooted in tradition, and a sophisticated set of motion animations.

A WARM GREETING

Boon Bona's new home page welcomes you to be a part of the experience. It features their broad offering of delicious coffees, invites you to attend a traditional coffee ceremony at one of their cafes, and highlights the companies values through a series of content modules and parallax experiences.

IMPACTFUL STORYTELLING

Product pages are strategically designed to feature three key sections: ‘The Coffee,’ ‘The People’ and ‘The Impact’. This tiered system enables customers to explore flavor profiles while highlighting Boon Boona’s social and environmental initiatives.
